Web design in Canberra
AntCrow designs and builds custom websites, online stores, and AI-ready digital experiences for Canberra businesses. Canberra is the most government-shaped market in Australia, and selling into it is different: procurement processes, panel arrangements, and accessibility standards decide who gets considered. We build websites that make those evaluations easy to pass.
The public service is the economy, by a wide margin
Public administration and safety contributed $18,757 million of industry gross value added in the ACT in 2024-25, far ahead of any other sector, and the Australian Public Service Commission's own workforce data puts 70,221 APS employees in Canberra at 30 June 2025, about 35 percent of the entire national service. The ACT economy grew 3.5 percent that year, the highest rate of any Australian jurisdiction, with GSP per capita of $119,544. Almost every business in the city either sells to government, sells to people paid by government, or supplies the businesses that do.
Selling to government starts with being assessable
Government buyers do not browse; they evaluate. Before a supplier reaches a shortlist, someone has checked the website for capability evidence, corporate details, security posture, and whether the organisation seems like it will still exist in three years. A Canberra supplier's website is effectively a standing tender document. We structure them that way: capability statements that map to how agencies actually describe requirements, credentials and panel memberships stated plainly, and an entity that is consistent everywhere it appears, because procurement teams check that too.
Accessibility is not optional in this market
Australian Government digital services are held to accessibility standards, and that expectation flows down to suppliers: an agency evaluating two vendors will notice if one's website fails the standards the agency itself must meet. We build to WCAG 2.2 AA as a working baseline, with real colour contrast, keyboard navigation, and structure that assistive technology can actually use. Canberra also hosts research anchors including CSIRO, which is consolidating sites in the city, the Australian National University, and the University of Canberra, and that institutional audience reads with the same care.
Built for Australian search and AI answers
We build Australian market signals into the content, structured data that tells search engines and AI assistants exactly what you do, and clear factual pages that assistants can safely quote, which increasingly matters when an evaluator's first question goes to a chatbot rather than a search box. Projects run remotely on video in Canberra hours; the time difference from New Zealand is two hours for most of the year, and invoicing can be in AUD.
Canberra questions, answered
Published Australian pricing guides put a custom business website at roughly $5,000 to $15,000 and e-commerce from about $10,000, commonly quoted exclusive of GST at 10 percent. Those are market ranges rather than ours. Our guide at /guides/website-cost-australia collects the published sources, which disagree substantially at the entry level, and shows the spread.
